A little about Jenn's yoga journey...

I began exploring yoga in 1999 and started sharing my love of the practice through teaching in 2004. To date I have taught over 1500 hours of hatha yoga to groups and individuals, with over 600 of those hours being dedicated to working with the 55+ population.  It is my goal to provide a warm and welcoming style of hatha yoga that is accessible to individuals of all ages, abilities, and experience levels. I believe strongly in the power of yoga to transform individuals through breath, strength, flexibility, mental focus, body awareness, and self acceptance.

My teaching style may best be described as alignment focused vinyasa yoga with a strong eye towards designing practices that encourages one to move towards a state of physical balance. I feel fortunate to be able to complement my yoga training and experience with a solid foundation and understanding of the human body in motion, having received a BS in Exercise Science from Wayne State College in 1998. With attention to breath and conscious movement supported by a strong core, I strive to provide a practice environment that simply allows each individual to take what he/she needs from their practice to live a more balanced life.

"Jennifer Mavin is a warm, supportive and caring teacher who creates a safe and compassionate space for our yoga practice. For nearly four years we have practiced in Jenn’s gentle yoga class. Our class is comprised largely of persons near or over 65 with a range of physical abilities and limitations. Jenn provides the perfect space for each student to practice safely, with confidence and with the knowledge that she will guide us through any modifications that we may need to make in our various poses. Among the many things we appreciate about Jenn’s class her invitation each day to notice and work on any areas of the body needing special care and attention. Each of us has become stronger through Jenn’s teaching, more intentional with our movements, and more aware of the effect of positioning, movement and breathing on our overall wellbeing. Moreover each of us is thoroughly committed to continuing to grow in our practice of yoga thanks to Jenn."  ~ Students Greg and Bonnie
